Freshwater Bay has long been one of my favourite Isle of Wight beaches. Some people might even say that I am crushing bore who spends far too much time talking about it. These people have a point.
Unusually, it is a pleasant beach to visit in most weathers. A trip to Freshwater Bay on a windy, grey day in January can be quite fun, whereas a wet weather trip to resorts like Sandown Bay or Ventnor can feel a bit bleak. Freshwater Bay has certainly become busier in recent years (the double decker bar and touring pizza van both seem to do well) but it still feels like it is ripe for becoming a trendy hotspot. Mrs Guru and I often discuss business ideas for a lattes-and-paninis seafront cafe in the day and a buzzing restaurant with outside seating and a view at night. Don't worry, local residents, we don't have the money for such things to become a noisy reality. I took my drone for an outing to Freshwater Bay earlier this year and have finally got round to looking at the footage. Here are some screenshots which show off the sparkling sea very nicely. (Fellow drone nerds - I used a DJI Mini SE).
