Isle Of Wight Supermarkets (2025 Guide)
You may want to support local food producers during your holiday but if not, then suffice to say, the Isle of Wight has the usual selection of supermarkets to pick from.
You'll find that the middle of the Isle of Wight and the East Wight are much better stocked for supermarkets than the West Wight or South Wight.

Newport
Newport has the best choice of supermarkets, and they are all pretty near the town centre - the big ones are Asda (PO30 2QH), Sainsburys (PO30 5ZB) and Morrisons (PO30 1JQ), which have ample parking and cafes.
There are also branches of The Food Warehouse (PO30 5UZ), Cooperative (PO30 1XB), Marks and Spencer (PO30 1XL) and Lidl (PO30 5GL). There's a Tesco Express in Newport High Street (PO30 1TJ).
Perhaps you could do a tour of them all in one day?
Morrisons, Asda and Sainsburys in Newport all have petrol stations that are usually quite cheap.

Ryde
Ryde has a whopping Tesco (PO33 1QS), which is a little way out of the town centre. It's got a petrol station. There's also a Tesco Express on the way to Ryde from Newport at Wootton Bridge (PO33 4PL).
There is an Iceland (PO33 2RE) in the High Street in Ryde, as well as a town centre Sainsbury's (PO33 2DT) and some small Cooperatives (PO33 2SX, PO33 1BU, PO33 2UH).

Cowes and East Cowes
(West) Cowes has a Marks and Spencer Simply Food (PO31 7XH), a small Sainsburys (PO31 7AY) and an Aldi (PO31 8PF). It was actually the Isle of Wight's first Aldi when it opened in 2013. I think we all remember the year that our local Aldi opened, don't we?
East Cowes has a fancy Waitrose and Partners (PO32 6SP). There's a chain ferry/floating bridge that links the two sides of the river (when it isn't broken).
Cowes is only a short drive to Newport, where there is a bigger range of supermarkets.

Sandown, Shanklin, Lake and Bembridge
The South East Wight's biggest supermarket is a Morrisons in Lake (PO36 9PA), which has a petrol station attached. There's also a decent sized Aldi in Lake (PO36 9FT).
There's a small Sainsbury's in Sandown (PO36 8DE) as well as a small Tesco (PO36 9EH) and a Cooperative Foods in Sandown (PO36 9AN). Shanklin has a Cooperative Foods (PO37 7AA) and a Lidl (PO37 7HZ). The latter is near to Lower Hyde Holiday Park.
Bembridge has a small Cooperative (PO35 5SB) and a 'Welcome' shop which stocks co-op products (PO35 5UE). This one is near the beach, so we've used it for picnics a few times.

Ventnor and South Wight
Hmm, um...there's not a huge selection around the South Wight. The Cooperative in the town centre (PO38 1ST) is a reasonable size and there's a small Tesco in the town centre as well (PO38 1LT). I'm afraid that's about it, so if you are staying in the South Wight or West Wight then you might consider a delivery.
Freshwater, Yarmouth and West Wight
Again, not a great deal of choice. Freshwater has a medium-sized Tesco (PO40 9UU) which was previously a Co-op. There's also a Sainsbury's Local (PO40 9AL) and a small Co-op in Freshwater town centre (PO40 9UU).
One of our favourite little outings involves buying sandwiches in Freshwater followed by a short drive up the Military Road to the bumpy National Trust car park, which overlooks Freshwater Bay. Good times.
