This guide obviously isn't being updated anymore and we haven't got around to doing a similar page for this year's Bestival, but if you feel inclined you can still read our guide to festivals on the Isle of Wight.

Bestival 2014 - ticket news, lineup and rumours

Bestival arrived as a boutique festival in 2004 with a crowd of about 10,000 and has grown to one of the biggest UK festivals with crowds of 55,000 in 2013. Here's our guide to lineup rumours for 2014, ideas for the fancy dress theme (Desert Island Disco) and ticket news. The date of Bestival 2014 is September 4th to 7th.

Tickets

Tickets are already on sale for Bestival 2014. The date has been confirmed as September 4th to 7th 2014. A standard ticket from Ticketmaster will cost you £206 including booking fees but there are also various deluxe tickets and concessions. Click here to buy tickets.

It is also worth checking out prices at 'secondary' sellers - but I would only touch those which guarantee that your ticket will be genuine and will arrive. The legitimate ones include Viagogo.

Fancy Dress Theme

The theme for 2014 is Desert Island Disco. According to Rob da Bank ... 'Palm trees, grass skirts and mirrorballs are the order of the day.'

Here are a few fancy dress ideas to get you thinking. My vote goes to the parrot costume with the mirrorball earrings.
"In 1977, a strange piece of flotsam washes up with the tide on an island somewhere in the South Atlantic. The victim of a wild party hundreds of miles away, a giant and abandoned disco ball finally comes to rest on the beach. Squinting at the sunlight reflecting off its hundreds of mirrors, a tribesman gently lifts it from the wet sand, feels the tides turn, and runs it back to the elders. Night falls and the tribe dance around their new talisman, flashes of fire reflecting off the disco ball, splashing sparkles across their feathers and spears. As the ball spins and spins, their drums find a new rhythm. Entranced by the glittery orb a four-to-the-floor beat surges through. The tribesman on the 3-string hootoo begins to whap at his bass string."

Lineup update - December 4th 2013

OK, so this far away from the Bestival we don't have a huge amount to report...but here goes.

Rumour has it that the Wonderstuff revealed they are going to play Bestival 2014. My source? A man called Darren from Chale said he'd heard it on Absolute Radio.

One other vague bit of rumour is this conversation between Mamas Lips and Rob da Bank on Twitter. I wouldn't like to guarantee that they'll be playing based on this though!

@MamasLips pls email hello@bestival.net
