**Wightlink's latest foot passenger deals: Kids Go Free during holidays + Afternoon return for £15.60** I saw a claim on a Facebook group that Aferry was offering a cheaper price than Wightlink for Isle of Wight ferry travel. This wasn't my experience when I checked Aferry about five years ago, but I couldn't resist a price comparison to see if things have changed. Peak time from Portsmouth, Southampton or LymingtonI started with a peak time crossing from Portsmouth to Fishbourne with Wightlink for a car and passengers from August 11th - 18th 2023. The Aferry price was £282.75 whilst the Wightlink price was...also £282.75. Both fares were the 'economy' option and they were the same time of day. Lymington to Yarmouth with AFerry at the same time was £276.25 or...£276.25 direct with Wightlink. I then looked at the same dates and similar crossing times with Red Funnel and found that it was £238.50 whether I booked with Aferry or Red Funnel direct. Off peak from Portsmouth or SouthamptonI was losing interest in this price comparison by this point. All three comparisons between Wightlink and Aferry had been identical and it felt like a pointless exercise. Nonetheless, for the good of humanity I searched for a short break from October 10th - 13th 2023. This time, the Wightlink fare was £110.25 whilst the Aferry fare was...also £110.25. A similar crossing with Red Funnel was £99.75 whether I went direct or via Aferry. Running out of steamMy enthusiasm ran out at this point, so I gave up on my plan to compare at least 10 prices. If you have found a fare on Aferry which was cheaper than going direct then I would be delighted to hear about it. However, the five fares I looked at were all the same. Money saving adviceFear not, there are several other options which will save you money on the Isle of Wight ferry.
These are explored in ridiculous levels of detail in our guide to discount Isle of Wight ferry travel. Some highlights include:

Parkdean Resorts has invested a lot in its four Isle of Wight holiday parks in the last couple of years. We’ve done some digging around and have figured which are the newest luxury lodges and dog friendly caravans at their sites at Lower Hyde, Landguard, Nodes Point and Thorness Bay Holiday Parks. My advice is to look out for these newest properties when you are booking. Personally, I rank the age of a caravan or lodge as one of the key factors when I’m deciding which one to book. New luxury Lodges at Parkdean Resorts for 2023Parkdean Resorts' newest luxury lodges at its Isle of Wight resorts can be found at Nodes Points. They are called the St Helens Lodges and the Yaverland Lodges. The Yaverland Lodge is a three bedroom lodge which sleeps six people, including a double bed and two rooms which each have two single beds. It is a dog friendly lodge. You get quite a few upgrades compared to a basic caravan. The width is 21 foot, whereas standard caravans range from 10-14 foot. This extra space will be very welcome if you are filling up the caravan with several teenagers! You also get a fridge freezer, washing machine and dishwasher – all of which are hard to come by at holiday parks. One bedroom has an ensuite and it has USB charging points. Overall, you’re getting about twice as much space as some small caravans. The St Helens Lodge has the same amount of overall space but it is a two bedroom lodge. One bedroom has a double bed whilst the other has two single beds. As with the Yaverland Lodge, you get a dishwasher, a veranda/balcony and a fridge freezer .You get a washer dryer instead of a washing machine, which I consider to be a modest upgrade. One of the bedrooms has an ensuite bedroom and shower. That means you have two bathrooms between four people, so there’s not much risk of a queue forming in the morning! Overall, I would say that the St Helen’s Lodge is slightly more spacious than the Yaverland Lodge but both are a big upgrade on a basic caravan. New dog friendly accommodation at Parkdean Resorts on the Isle of WightThere’s plenty of dog friendly accommodation at Parkdean Resorts on the Isle of Wight but the newest ones can be found at Nodes Point. They are called the Yarmouth caravan and they sleep up to eight people. You get a double bed, two rooms which each have two beds and a sofa bed in the lounge. The Yarmouth caravan isn’t as spacious as a lodge but it can be great value and there are several upgrades which you don’t get in a lot of caravans. For example, you get a fridge freezer for storing holiday ice creams (a lot of caravans just provide a fridge). You also get an extra toilet, USB charging points and a heated towel rail. These dog friendly caravans were added to Nodes Point in 2022. As mentioned earlier, the Yaverland Lodge is also dog friendly. Other new accommodation at Parkdean Resorts on the Isle of WightThere are three other grades of caravan which are new to Parkdean Resorts in the last couple of years. None of these are dog friendly – although I personally see that as a plus point as I don’t have a dog myself! The three newest names to look for include Longboard caravans at Lower Hyde Holiday Park, Yew caravans at Landguard Holiday Park and Squadron caravans at Thorness Bay Holiday Park:
