We've had a 10% deal for a long time, but Red Funnel has doubled the discount for the next month. Achieving this deal took us many months of intense negotiation and eleventh hour table thumping (well, we exchanged a couple of emails).

Red Funnel did something similar for us last year and it was the best deal around for a lot of people planning summer holidays. Last year, they decided to extend the offer into August, but we don't yet know if they will decide to do that - so I would advise getting on with it. As a general rule, car ferry prices increase as you get nearer to your travel date.

Is this the best offer around for getting to or from the Isle of Wight in 2026?

Yes, for a lot of people - but not for everyone.

This is a nice simple discount that doesn't require any faffing around. However, you might get a lower price in other ways:

• If you are paying for accommodation on the Isle of Wight then the people you book with may be able to offer you a better discount. The biggest savings are with the biggest names - such as Away Resorts (four holiday parks), Parkdean Resorts (four holiday parks) and Warner Leisure (two hotels). These brands can typically save you 50% - 70% off standard fares. That figure isn't a guarantee but it's generally what it's worked out as when we've done comparisons. Smaller accommodation providers can often get 15% - 25% off.

• Red Funnel sends out books of vouchers to Isle of Wight residents, which they can pass on to friends and family. These are called the Big Book of Savings and typically include discounts of 15% - 25% and a fixed price day return car ferry deal of about £50 - £60.
  
  ​If I was being pedantic I would point out that it's more of a booklet and should really be called the Book of Big Savings. Anyway, it offers unique codes with a limited number of uses so we can't share them here. If you've got an elderly aunt in Bembridge who never leaves the Island then you could give her a call and see if she's received it. You'll then need to get her to read out the 23 digit discount code over a poor quality phone line. Good luck.
  
  
• Electric cars get a 25% discount with Red Funnel. This offer has been running for a long time but a lot of people don't seem to know about it. It has to be fully electric rather than a hybrid.
  
  
• If you've got loads of Tesco Clubcard points built up then you can double them up on Wightlink. You can't combine it with another offer though. Wightlink is the rival to Red Funnel and runs ferries from Portsmouth and Lymington. The Isle of Wight is not huge, so you can get any of the ferries and you won't have a huge drive on the other side (see our ferries beginners' guide).
  
  
• If you're arriving on foot then there are several other options that have a good chance of beating the 20% off deal. For example, Red Funnel is doing day returns for about £13 on most weekends in July and August. Another favourite trick for Railcard owners is booking the ferry with a short train journey, as you'll get 1/3rd off the whole journey. • Isle of Wight residents have got a few other exclusive options. For example, they can get a fixed return fare of £80 - £98 in 2026 if they travel early or late in the day (the Wightlink Sunset Flyer).
